Join us for a festive evening and participate in the magic of Christmas when the South Arkansas Symphony presents "The Snowman", a wonderful film capturing the hearts of all ages.   Based on the popular children's book by Raymond Briggs in 1978, the Snowman movie brings to life the friendship between a boy and a snowman. The movie is beautifully crafted with hand-drawn animations and is supported by an enchanting score written by Howard Blake. The 26-minute movie premiered in Great Britain on Christmas Eve in 1982 and became an instant success with repeat holiday performances every year and was subsequently nominated for an Acadamy Award for Animated Short film in 1983.

The movie will be projected on a large movie screen with the South Arkansas Symphony playing the music as written by Howard Blake.  In addition to The Snowman, the orchestra will also perform traditional Christmas favorites and an audience sing-a-long. Featured in the performance will be the El Dorado and Camden Fairview High School Choirs along with the First Methodist Church Bell Choir.

The Snowman by Raymond Briggs by arrangement with Snowman Enterprises Ltd. (c) Snowman Enterprises Ltd. 1982, 2009.
